TFD – Step into the glitz and glamour of the 30th annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. From heartfelt speeches to star-studded reunions, explore the unforgettable moments that defined this year’s ceremony.

There will be plenty of time for acceptance speeches, some profanity, and no ads.

It was the first time that the 30th annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards were streamed live globally on Netflix, allowing it to stand out from other award shows (read: no bleeps, as mentioned above, and no ad breaks either). The show took place on Saturday at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles.

Those who have followed awards season this year will be familiar with Saturday night’s victors, as actors from “The Bear,” “Oppenheimer,” and “Beef” won statuettes as predicted. Predicted winners, known as “actors” throughout the show, included Lily Gladstone of “Killers of the Flower Moon” and Da’Vine Joy Randolph of “The Holdovers.”

Idris Elba unofficially carried out the role of host this year, generating laughter from the audience by opening and closing the program as well as making an appearance at least once in the middle.

Among the numerous well-known performers who graced the stage as presenters were SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher, America Ferrera, Jessica Chastain, Billie Eilish, and Robert Downey Jr.

Barbra Streisand was given the SAG Life Achievement Award with assistance from Jennifer Aniston, who praised the icon for “that voice” and referred to her as “a mensch.” As part of the commemoration, Bradley Cooper also made an appearance on stage.

Alan Ruck, center, and the cast of “Succession” photographed during the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards in Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Saturday, Feb. 24.

During her acceptance speech, Streisand mentioned that she had been a member of SAG-AFTRA for over 60 years. She also recalled her teenage years in Brooklyn, when she used to dream of being an actor while eating a “pint of coffee ice cream” and reading a movie magazine. She went on to discuss notable Jewish actors from the Golden Age of Hollywood who escaped persecution in Eastern Europe, adding, “Now I dream of a world where such prejudice is a thing of the past.”

Fans of “The Devil Wears Prada” were in for a treat when Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt returned to present together for the first award of the evening. The SAG stage also saw other casts reuniting on Saturday, including those from “Breaking Bad” as well as Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis from 1986’s David Cronenberg film “The Fly,” who presented the final award for the evening.

With five nominations, the cast of “Succession” led the television categories and won the top prize for best ensemble. In the motion picture categories, “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” each received four nominations, including honors in the highly sought-after ensemble cast category. With three of those honors, “Oppenheimer” emerged triumphant, and “Barbie” was left out.

This is the final big entertainment awards show before the Oscars celebration next month, and it’s the first SAG Awards since the protracted Hollywood actors’ strike of last year—a fact that was brought up multiple times during the evening.
