This special episode promises laughter, star-studded sketches, and a musical treat by Chris Stapleton. Stay tuned for an unforgettable night of entertainment!

This weekend, Kristen Wiig hosted the venerable NBC sketch show “Saturday Night Live” for the fifth time, and with a little assistance from some very famous people, she was initiated into the prestigious five-timers club in style.

Wiig received her dark blue velvet members-only jacket from Matt Damon, Ryan Gosling, Jon Hamm, Martin Short, Paul Rudd, Will Forte, Fred Armisen, and the iconic “SNL” founder Lorne Michaels, who seldom ever appears on screen.

As Wiig was getting excited to accept the award, Rudd—who was wearing one of the jackets himself—interrupted her to say he had “heard a rumor” that she was going to do “one of those five-timer sketches featuring awesome celebrity cameos” and to ask if there was “like, a script or something I could look at for that.”

Sheepishly, Wiig said, “Oh, no.” I apologize, but I don’t believe we will be doing one of those.

During her appearance, veteran “SNL” writer Paula Pell made light of Wiig’s excitement over her jacket, joking that “they basically hand those out to everybody like free maxi pads.”

Wiig was taken aback when Damon showed up wearing a five-timer blazer, as he has only served as a host twice. He added, however, that “Lorne said the first time I hosted it was so good, it counted for three” and that “that’s five, baby” based on his calculations because his second hosting attempt wasn’t as spectacular but it still counted as two.

Wiig jokingly said that Damon receiving a jacket for just two hosting appearances “doesn’t really seem fair.” “I thought I earned this? Does this jacket even have any relevance anymore, really?

Then, encircling Michaels in five-timers club jackets were Hamm, Forte, Short, and Armisen, which further irritated Wiig because none of them had hosted five times.

Yes, but between the two of us, we’ve hosted five times, Forte added.

Wiig bemoaned the fact that she didn’t think her initiation was “that special” any longer, but Damon came back out on stage and told her, “You should really feel proud of yourself.” He then jokingly went on to suggest that Wiig was the youngest member of the club, a claim that Wiig quickly refuted, pointing out that Emma Stone, who is younger, had only recently been admitted. Then Damon made the absurd suggestion that Wiig is the first female member.

In the end, Wiig’s special guests all joined her on stage for a song. Wiig began to sing, “And there’s one thing I know is true, I wouldn’t be here without all of you,” but was quickly interrupted once more—this time by Gosling, the host for the next week.

The “Barbie” actor was astonished to see that Michaels was onstage next him and also sporting a jacket. “Are you sure?” he inquired of Michaels, who gave him a nod of approval. He remarked, “It seems unfair, I haven’t even hosted three times yet.”

Then, with much pride, Gosling hurried up to Wiig and gave her a jacket of her own. He even rolled it in lint for her.

Wiig becomes the newest member of an elite group that includes, among others, Melissa McCarthy, Ben Affleck, Steve Martin, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, and Rudd.

The “Palm Royale” actor appeared on “SNL” as a cast member for seven years, from 2005 to 2012. She made three appearances as a host in 2020—once in 2013 and once in 2016—after leaving the show as a regular.

On April 13, Gosling will host the upcoming edition of “SNL,” which will feature Chris Stapleton as a musical guest.

Conclusion

Kristen Wiig’s induction into the five-timers club on SNL marks a significant milestone in her comedic career. The camaraderie and humor displayed during her initiation, along with the upcoming episode’s star-studded lineup, promise an unforgettable night of entertainment for SNL fans. Tune in on April 13 to witness this historic moment and enjoy the laughter and music on offer!
