New Delhi: Just days after announcing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in 12 states and Union Territories, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday declared the activation of the National Voter Helpline and 36 State and District-level helplines to address public questions and issues related to voter registration, electoral rolls, and complaints.
According to the latest SIR guidelines, 51 crore registered voters are required to submit enumeration forms by December 4 to remain on the draft electoral roll. This large-scale revision aims to update and verify the electoral database across multiple regions before upcoming elections.
What is the National Voter Helpline Number?
The toll-free voter helpline number is 1800-11-1950. Citizens can contact this number for any election-related information, assistance, or complaint resolution. The ECI stated that “trained executives are available to assist citizens and stakeholders with all electoral services and queries.”
The National Contact Centre (NCC) will serve as the central hub for all voter-related communication and operate daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. To ensure localized response and faster grievance handling, the ECI has also directed all States, UTs, and Districts to establish their own State Contact Centres (SCCs) and District Contact Centres (DCCs).
| Helpline Type | Scope | Working Hours | Languages Supported |
|---|---|---|---|
| National Contact Centre (NCC) | Handles nationwide voter queries and grievances | 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (All Days) | Hindi, English, and regional languages |
| State Contact Centres (SCCs) | Provides state-level assistance | Office hours (Working Days) | Regional languages of the respective State/UT |
| District Contact Centres (DCCs) | Handles local voter concerns | Office hours (Working Days) | Regional language of the district |
Use of the National Grievance Service Portal
The National Grievance Service Portal will serve as the central platform for registering and monitoring grievances related to voter rolls, polling arrangements, and election procedures. Citizens can use this digital platform to file complaints, track progress, and receive updates on resolution status in real-time.
Additionally, the ECI has launched a new facility called “Book-a-Call with BLO”, allowing voters to directly contact their assigned Booth Level Officer (BLO) via the ECINET platform. This initiative aims to make voter interactions more transparent and accessible at the grassroots level.
Other Ways to Contact Election Officials
Besides the voter helpline, citizens can use multiple digital and direct methods to reach election officials for prompt grievance redressal and support.
- Use the ECINET App to connect directly with election officials and track service requests.
- Email your complaint to complaints@eci.gov.in for official grievance registration.
- Choose the ‘Book-a-Call with BLO’ option on the Election Commission’s official website to talk to your BLO directly.
- Dial the dedicated helpline number – 1950 for all election-related information, feedback, suggestions, and complaints.
The Election Commission of India has instructed Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), District Electoral Officers (DEOs), and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to ensure quick resolution of complaints within 48 hours for improved public service delivery.
“These new digital facilities are in addition to existing mechanisms for addressing election-related grievances,” the poll body emphasized in its statement.
Empowering Voters Through Technology
By introducing multiple helpline channels, mobile applications, and online grievance portals, the ECI aims to make voter engagement more transparent, inclusive, and technologically advanced. The commission continues to encourage citizens to verify their voter details and actively participate in the electoral process.
