The Indian Army has once again demonstrated its commitment to the welfare and dignity of its extended military family by assisting the daughter of a late Territorial Army officer in regaining her ancestral home. The operation was carried out in close coordination with the Uttar Pradesh government and local civil authorities.

Ms. Anjana Bhatt’s ancestral property was restored through a legal and well-organized process. Officials described the initiative as both empathetic and decisive, highlighting the Army’s proactive role in safeguarding the rights of its families.

Bhatt had been dealing with long-term personal, medical, and legal challenges after anti-social elements unlawfully occupied her ancestral land. Left without immediate family support, she was vulnerable and had limited options for resolution.

Recognizing her plight, the Indian Army’s Central Uttar Pradesh Sub Area intervened, citing its institutional and moral obligation to assist the family. The Army ensured her safety while facilitating legal procedures to reclaim her property.

The initiative involved continuous institutional support and monitoring of Bhatt’s well-being. Coordinated administrative and legal actions were undertaken to remove the illegally occupying tenants, following a comprehensive assessment. Throughout the process, the Army worked closely with district authorities, law enforcement, and legal counsel to ensure transparency, legality, and timely execution.

To oversee the entire operation, Major Vishal Kanojia was formally appointed as Bhatt’s foster guardian. He coordinated with civil authorities, ensured legal proceedings were properly followed, and provided continuous personal support. Officials noted that his persistent efforts prevented further exploitation and safeguarded her rights effectively.

On January 1, 2026, Bhatt’s ancestral home was successfully restored, and the unlawful occupants were peacefully evicted. Authorities described the operation as a prime example of strong military-civil coordination, conducted entirely within the legal framework and with full participation from the civil administration.

Following the successful recovery, Bhatt met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday to express her gratitude to the state government for their timely and thoughtful assistance. Major Vishal Kanojia, Mrs. Sangeeta Kukreti, President of the Central Uttar Pradesh Sub Area Family Welfare Organization, and Major General Manish Kukreti, General Officer Commanding of the Central Uttar Pradesh Sub Area, were also present during the meeting.

Officials emphasized that the incident exemplifies excellent military-civil collaboration, responsive governance, and the Indian Army’s unwavering dedication to supporting soldiers and their families in all circumstances.

They further stated that the case reinforces the Army’s core values: serving humanity, upholding justice, and protecting citizens extend far beyond the battlefield.
