The Jharkhand Police on Sunday uncovered a human trafficking racket, following the trail of two kidnapped children, Ansh and Asnshika, from the city’s Dhurwa area. The police successfully rescued 16 children from several parts of the state, who were allegedly forced into several immoral activities, including theft and begging. In addition, girls were forced into prostitution once they grew up.
The Dhruwa police station is currently housing the rescued children. Soon, their parents will be identified through DNA testing, and then the process of giving children to their parents will start.
Further investigation revealed that the gang, named Gulgulia, operated a widespread network across Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh, with its operations centred in Aurangabad, Bihar. It sold children across states after stealing them from families with lower incomes.
Sixteen gang members have been arrested by the police. They have disclosed that Ashok Singh, Babu Saheb, and Suraj Rawani were responsible for transporting the kids from various states. Singh and Saheb operated from Aurangabad, while Rawani operated from West Bengal.
The gang also abducted Ansh and Anshika, two local children, and was preparing them for sale. The cost was set as well, but they were both saved along with ten others when the police raided at the appropriate moment.
