Patna, Bihar: A massive protest erupted outside Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s official residence on Tuesday after several Janata Dal (United) leaders and party workers were allegedly denied tickets for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections 2025. The agitation led to a complete closure of the CM’s residence and heightened security deployment in the area.

According to official sources, security forces and police personnel swiftly cordoned off the premises to control the growing crowd of agitated party members. Despite restrictions, several leaders and workers continued to gather and stage sit-ins outside the Chief Minister’s home, demanding fair distribution of election tickets.

Among the protesters was Gopal Mandal, a former JDU MLA, who launched a dharna (sit-in protest) outside Nitish Kumar’s residence. The demonstration intensified as party workers from Kurtha, Nabinagar, and Darbhanga joined the protest, amplifying the political tension in the state capital.

Speaking to reporters, Mandal stated, “I have come here to meet the Chief Minister, and I will not move until I get an assurance that my ticket will not be denied.” He reaffirmed his commitment to the party but expressed strong disappointment over the ticket selection process.

In a related development, Ajay Mandal, JDU leader and current Bhagalpur MLA, reportedly offered to resign from his legislative position. In a letter addressed to Nitish Kumar, he expressed dissatisfaction over the exclusion of his name from the list of Assembly election candidates, signaling deepening unrest within the party ranks.

Party insiders suggest that the ongoing ticket distribution controversy could impact JDU’s internal stability ahead of the crucial elections. Analysts believe Nitish Kumar’s leadership faces mounting pressure as discontent grows among loyalists who feel sidelined.

The Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 are scheduled to take place in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the counting of votes slated for November 14. As election fever intensifies, political observers are closely watching how JDU manages the internal crisis while maintaining its alliance strategies.

With protests, resignations, and ticket disputes making headlines, Nitish Kumar’s ability to handle intra-party dissent will likely determine his political standing in the upcoming polls.
