“Getting on my nerves,” Wayne said jokingly. “He’s definitely locked in, in tune, we just got done talking to him about his rehab and where he is. I’m excited for him, man.”

Wayne added that Pierce’s positive attitude is an encouraging sign as he continues working toward his return.

“He’s upbeat, so if he’s upbeat, then that means he’s where he wants to be. Where he needs to be. Obviously, we know what he means to our receivers room,” Wayne said.

The comments indicate that the Colts remain confident in Pierce’s progress while recognising his importance to the team’s receiving corps.

Colts Do Not Want to Rush Alec Pierce Back

Although Wayne is excited about Pierce’s eventual return, the veteran coach stressed that the Colts will not rush the receiver back onto the field before he is ready.

“I just want him whenever he’s 100%. I don’t want him at 85, I don’t want him 80 – I need him 100. However long that takes, it is what it is,” Wayne said.

The approach reflects the importance of ensuring Pierce completes his rehabilitation properly before returning to competitive action. Rushing him back could potentially create additional problems, making patience particularly important during his recovery.

Alec Pierce Enjoyed Breakout 2025 Season

Pierce’s absence is particularly significant because he is coming off the best season of his NFL career.
