Erling Haaland had an entertaining reaction after Manchester City teammate Rayan Cherki accidentally broke the rules during a live television interview following their 4-1 Premier League win over Crystal Palace.
Manchester City secured their second consecutive league victory of the season at Selhurst Park, with Haaland and Cherki both playing starring roles in the convincing win under manager Enzo Maresca.
Rayan Cherki Swears During Live Interview
Cherki joined Haaland for post-match media duties after the victory and was asked about his performance. The French attacker did not hold back when describing his first-half display and used strong language while speaking to Sky Sports.
Cherki admitted that he was unhappy with his performance before the break and explained that he needed to improve in the second half after noticing that Maresca was considering replacing him.
Haaland appeared amused as Cherki spoke, seemingly aware that his teammate had used language unsuitable for live television. The broadcaster subsequently apologized to viewers for the incident.
Haaland and Cherki Shine Against Crystal Palace
Both players made a major impact on the result. Haaland scored twice, while Cherki also found the net twice as Manchester City produced an impressive attacking performance.
Haaland opened the scoring in the 17th minute when he headed home a cross from Antoine Semenyo. The goal marked his return to the scoresheet after failing to score in Manchester City’s opening league fixture.
Cherki then doubled City’s advantage in the 54th minute with an impressive individual effort. Crystal Palace responded shortly afterward when Yeremy Pino’s free-kick struck the woodwork before going in off goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The hosts’ comeback hopes were short-lived, however. Cherki restored Manchester City’s two-goal advantage in the 59th minute when his effort from outside the box took a deflection and found the net.
Haaland completed the scoring in the 84th minute with a precise finish from inside the penalty area, securing a 4-1 victory for the visitors.
Manchester City Continue Strong Premier League Start
The victory gave Manchester City a second Premier League win from their opening two matches under Enzo Maresca. The result also provided a strong response after their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield.
Haaland and Cherki will be particularly important to City’s attacking plans this season. Their performances against Crystal Palace showed the potential of the partnership between the club’s established goalscorer and the creative French forward.
Haaland’s Goalscoring Form Returns
Haaland’s brace was another reminder of his consistent threat in front of goal. After being held scoreless on the opening day, the Norwegian quickly returned to the scoresheet with two goals at Selhurst Park.
With Cherki also contributing two goals, Manchester City demonstrated that they have multiple attacking options capable of deciding matches.
City will now look to build on their perfect start to the Premier League campaign as they prepare for a demanding season across domestic and European competitions.
