Bangladesh have announced their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, with experienced wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das making his return after recovering from a calf injury.
Litton had suffered an injury to his left calf, which forced him to miss the recent T20I series against Australia and the one-off Test against Zimbabwe. After successfully completing his rehabilitation, he has now been declared fit and included in Bangladesh’s ODI squad.
The visitors have also welcomed back captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who missed the third ODI against Australia due to a concussion. Mehidy was rested from the Test squad traveling to Zimbabwe but will return to lead the side in the 50-over format.
Bangladesh head into the series with confidence after securing a 2-1 ODI series victory over Australia earlier this month. Apart from the exclusion of Mahedi Hasan, who was drafted in as a late replacement during the Australia series, the selectors have largely retained the same squad.
The pace attack will once again be spearheaded by Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Nahid Rana. Taskin and Nahid were rested from the Test squad to manage their workload ahead of the ODI assignments.
Bangladesh’s batting unit will rely heavily on vice-captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, and the returning Litton Das. Meanwhile, Mosaddek Hossain will look to continue his impressive form after winning the Player of the Series award against Australia following his return to ODI cricket after a four-year absence.
Zimbabwe have historically proven to be a challenging destination for Bangladesh. The hosts won their most recent bilateral ODI series against Bangladesh in 2022, ending a nine-year streak of Bangladesh victories in ODI series between the two nations.
Following the one-off Test in Harare, the ODI series will be played on July 6, July 9, and July 11 at the same venue. The tour will conclude with a three-match T20I series.
