During an interview with Denise Salcedo, Mateo previously revealed that he had wanted to wrestle more frequently during his time in WWE. He explained that he believed his wrestling ability was a major reason the company had signed him.

“I wanted to do more, wrestle more, because that’s what you signed me for, based off my wrestling,” Mateo said.

He also revealed that he asked WWE about appearing in Main Event and dark matches but said those opportunities ultimately did not materialize.
