Chasing a challenging target of 151, the Knight Riders reached 154/3 with two balls to spare, thanks to an unbeaten half-century from Colin Munro and a late assault from Jason Holder.
Colin Munro Anchors Successful Chase
Experienced New Zealand batter Colin Munro continued his impressive form, remaining unbeaten on 64 off 40 deliveries. He laid the foundation for the chase with an aggressive opening partnership alongside Andre Fletcher.
The duo added 70 runs for the first wicket in just six overs, putting immediate pressure on the Unicorns’ bowling attack.
Fletcher contributed a valuable 34 runs before departing at the end of the sixth over, but Munro stayed composed and guided his side through the middle phase of the innings.
Jason Holder’s Explosive Cameo Changes the Game
The match appeared to be slipping away from the Knight Riders when they required 52 runs from the final four overs.
However, Jason Holder turned the momentum dramatically during the 11th over, attacking Haris Rauf with fearless strokeplay. Holder smashed two sixes and a boundary, while Munro also found the ropes as the over produced 23 runs.
The explosive over reduced the equation to just 29 runs from 18 balls, putting the Knight Riders firmly back in control.
Munro then finished the job in style as Los Angeles completed the chase with seven wickets in hand.
Lhuan-dre Pretorius Stars for San Francisco Unicorns
Earlier, young South African batter Lhuan-dre Pretorius delivered a sensational innings for San Francisco Unicorns.
Pretorius scored 58 runs from just 28 balls, providing the perfect platform for his team after they were asked to bat first.
He raced to 39 runs off 18 deliveries during the powerplay and helped the Unicorns reach 48 without loss in the opening overs.
Alongside contributions from captain Matthew Short, who scored 30 runs, the Unicorns looked set for a massive total.
Knight Riders Bowlers Fight Back Late
San Francisco were cruising at 123/3 after 10 overs and appeared capable of crossing the 170-run mark despite the shortened format.
However, Los Angeles bowlers produced an excellent comeback in the final four overs.
Carmi le Roux, Andre Russell, Jason Holder and Shadley van Schalkwyk conceded only 27 runs combined during the closing stages, preventing the Unicorns from fully capitalizing on their strong start.
The disciplined finish restricted San Francisco to 150/7, a score that ultimately proved just short of what was required.
