According to sources who spoke to India Today TV, the elections for the Bihar Assembly are probably going to take place between November 5 and November 15, following Chhath Puja, which is on October 28.

The poll panel must finish the election process prior to November 22, 2025, which is the conclusion of the present Assembly’s tenure.

Bihar will once more hold multi-phase elections in accordance with previous procedures. Three phases comprised the 2020 elections: 71 seats were up for election on October 28, 94 on November 3, and 78 on November 7. On November 10, the results were announced. In 2015, polling was spread over five phases.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar will visit poll-bound Bihar next week to review election preparations and the final voter list, which will be published on September 30, sources added.

The opposition’s INDIA group and the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will square off once more in this year’s contest. The NDA, comprising the BJP, Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas), is eyeing another term under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The Opposition camp, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), along with the Congress and Left parties, is hoping to unseat him.

With 131 members, the NDA now controls a majority in the 243-member House, followed by the BJP with 80, the JD(U) with 45, the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) with 4, and two Independents. With the RJD at 77, Congress at 19, CPI(ML) at 11, CPI(M) at 2, and CPI at 2, the INDIA bloc has 111 MLAs.
