Adam Copeland, better known to wrestling fans as Edge, has addressed his future in professional wrestling and made it clear that he has no desire to return to WWE.
The Rated-R Superstar is one of the most decorated wrestlers in WWE history. During his two runs with the company, Copeland captured multiple championships and established himself as one of the industry’s biggest stars.
After leaving WWE in 2023, Copeland joined All Elite Wrestling and made his debut at AEW WrestleDream later that year. Since then, he has become an important part of the AEW roster.
Adam Copeland wants to retire in AEW
During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Copeland discussed his long-term plans and explained that he would like to end his in-ring career with AEW.
The veteran wrestler praised the atmosphere inside the company and said that he enjoys the energy, ambition and enthusiasm of the AEW locker room.
“I really love it there. I love the company. I love the attitude. I love the exuberance. I love the drive. I love the excitement that I see from the locker room. Yeah, I don’t want to go anywhere else. I’m good.”
Copeland’s comments effectively rule out a return to WWE, where he spent much of his legendary career. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012.
Adam Copeland discusses his AEW contract
During the same interview, Copeland also discussed the status of his current AEW contract.
The veteran star suggested that his deal could potentially expire in October 2026. However, his contract may receive additional time because of periods when he was unable to compete.
Copeland suffered a serious leg injury in 2024 and also took time away from wrestling because of acting commitments involving The Beekeeper and Percy Jackson.
“The contract wasn’t coming up, but I think it might’ve come up in October. But with The Beekeeper, Percy Jackson, and the broken leg, I think that all adds up as tacked-on time,” Copeland said.
Copeland and Christian Cage prepare for All In 2026
Despite discussing retirement, Copeland remains an active competitor in AEW and currently has major business ahead of him.
Copeland and his longtime friend Christian Cage are scheduled to defend their AEW World Tag Team Championship against Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson at the upcoming All In 2026 pay-per-view.
The match gives Copeland another major opportunity to add to his AEW legacy alongside Christian Cage, with the two longtime friends now working together as tag team champions.
Adam Copeland’s future in AEW
Copeland’s latest comments indicate that his priority is remaining with AEW for the final stage of his professional wrestling career.
Although the veteran has not announced an exact retirement date, his desire to finish his career in AEW suggests that fans should not expect another WWE run.
For now, Copeland remains focused on competing in AEW, defending championships and enjoying the final chapter of his celebrated wrestling career.
