Cristiano Ronaldo and his longtime partner Georgina Rodriguez surprised fans with an exceptionally private wedding ceremony on August 11, 2026. Rather than hosting a lavish celebration, the couple exchanged vows in the living room of their new summer house in Cascais, Portugal.
The ceremony was attended by only nine people, including Ronaldo, Georgina, their five children and three close connections. Details of the intimate celebration were later revealed by Vogue, including the couple’s choice of venue, outfits, wedding date and the personal meaning behind several elements of the ceremony.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina chose a living room wedding
The wedding took place in the living room of the couple’s home, a setting that Georgina deliberately chose because it represents their everyday family life.
Instead of selecting a traditional luxury venue, Georgina wanted the wedding to become a lasting family memory. She explained that she hoped their children would look back decades later and remember that their parents exchanged vows at the same table where the family shared meals.
Ronaldo even interrupted the emotional explanation with a joke, suggesting that the table might not remain the same because they could eventually change the home’s decor.
Only nine people attended the secret ceremony
The intimate celebration was a sharp contrast to earlier speculation about a much larger guest list. Reports had suggested that several famous personalities could attend, but the actual ceremony was limited to the couple’s closest circle.
Their five children were present: Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., Eva, Mateo, Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda.
The other guests included Miguel Paixão, a longtime friend of Ronaldo from his Sporting days, Georgina’s sister Ivana Rodríguez, and friends José Rodríguez Sangil and Mónica González Martínez and her husband.
Why August 11 was special for Ronaldo and Georgina
The wedding date carried deep personal significance for the couple. August 11 marked exactly 10 years since Ronaldo and Georgina first met in 2016.
At the time, Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid and visited a Gucci store on Calle Serrano in Madrid with his son Cristiano Jr. Georgina was working at the store as a sales assistant after covering for a colleague.
The meeting was unexpected because Georgina was not originally scheduled to work that day. She later described the encounter as destiny.
Ronaldo recalled seeing Georgina after turning around inside the store, describing their first eye contact as the moment their relationship began.
The Cascais house has a connection to Ronaldo’s lucky number
The couple’s new summer house in Cascais also carried symbolic significance. According to the details revealed by Vogue, Ronaldo and Georgina took possession of the property in July after it had taken seven years to build.
The number seven has long been associated with Ronaldo because of his famous CR7 brand and football shirt number. Georgina viewed the connection as another positive sign, calling the repeated appearance of the number seven meaningful.
Ronaldo and Georgina wore Gucci for their wedding
The couple’s connection with Gucci also featured prominently in their wedding outfits. Georgina wore a white silk faille skirt suit accompanied by matching satin shoes with the luxury brand’s signature silver horsebit detail.
Ronaldo opted for a custom light beige cotton suit with custom loafers. Their children also wore coordinated outfits for the special occasion.
The choice of Gucci had additional significance because the couple first met at a Gucci store in Madrid a decade earlier.
The couple later received a blessing at Fatima
Following the private ceremony, Ronaldo and Georgina travelled to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, located around an hour away. A priest reportedly closed off a small sanctuary and blessed their union.
The couple did not take a traditional honeymoon immediately after the wedding. Instead, they travelled to Riyadh the following day as Ronaldo returned to training with Al Nassr.
Georgina still wants a bigger celebration in the future
Despite choosing an intimate ceremony, Georgina indicated that a larger celebration with friends and extended family could happen in the future.
For the couple, however, the private ceremony allowed them to focus on their immediate family and create a personal memory away from the attention that usually surrounds Ronaldo’s global celebrity status.
The wedding therefore combined luxury and simplicity: Gucci outfits and a high-profile football superstar on one side, and a living-room ceremony surrounded by their children on the other.
