Genshin Impact 7.1 Patch Notes: New Characters, Anniversary Events and More

Genshin Impact 7.1 introduces two new five-star characters, sixth-anniversary content, new Archon Quests, weapons, enemies, Miliastra Wonderland features, TCG updates and major system improvements.

Genshin Impact 7.1 has officially launched on September 23, 2026, bringing one of the game’s biggest content updates of the year. The new version expands the ongoing Snezhnaya storyline while adding new playable characters, weapons, quests, events, combat content and quality-of-life improvements.

The update is particularly significant because it coincides with Genshin Impact’s sixth-anniversary celebrations. Players can access anniversary-related rewards alongside new gameplay systems and additional content across several existing modes.

Version 7.1 also adds two five-star characters, Vesna and Vodyanitsa, introduces new equipment, expands Genius Invokation TCG, refreshes the Spiral Abyss and adds new activities to Miliastra Wonderland.

Genshin Impact 7.1 Patch Notes Overview

The latest update covers a wide range of content rather than focusing on a single gameplay system. The major additions include:

  • Two new five-star characters: Vesna and Vodyanitsa.
  • New Archon Quests continuing the Snezhnaya storyline.
  • Sixth-anniversary events and associated rewards.
  • New five-star and four-star weapons.
  • A new enemy and boss encounter in Fellfrost Peak.
  • New World Quests and Secret Tsarist Assignments.
  • Additional Miliastra Wonderland cosmetics and social features.
  • New Genius Invokation TCG character and action cards.
  • New Imaginarium Theater seasons.
  • A refreshed Spiral Abyss lineup and Ley Line Disorders.
  • Multiple optimization changes and bug fixes.

Two New Five-Star Characters Arrive

One of the biggest attractions in Genshin Impact 7.1 is the arrival of two new five-star characters: Vesna and Vodyanitsa. Both bring different elemental roles and are connected to the new content introduced in the update.

Vesna – Five-Star Anemo Sword Character

Vesna is a five-star Anemo character who uses a sword. She is described as the commander of the Druzhna and a skilled blade associated with the Tsaritsa.

Her gameplay revolves around Anemo damage and the new Stellar Swirl reaction system. Vesna can help her team trigger Stellar Swirl reactions and, under specific conditions, can also deal Stellar Swirl damage herself.

This gives Vesna a role that can be particularly relevant for teams designed around the new reaction mechanics introduced alongside the Snezhnaya-focused content.

Vodyanitsa – Five-Star Hydro Catalyst User

Vodyanitsa is another five-star addition, using Hydro as her element and a Catalyst as her weapon. She is described as the prima donna of the Korolevskiy Troupe and a Water Imp who has separated from her kin.

Unlike Vesna’s more damage-oriented role, Vodyanitsa focuses heavily on healing and support. Her abilities make her suitable for teams built around Freeze and Stellar Swirl reactions.

Her healing capabilities also mean that she can contribute to team survivability while supporting the elemental reactions required by certain new compositions.

New Weapons in Genshin Impact 7.1

The update also adds several weapons across five-star and four-star rarities. These weapons are closely connected to the mechanics and characters introduced in Version 7.1.

Five-Star Weapons

Beyond the Chrysalis is a five-star sword. When the equipped character uses an Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst, they receive one of three effects in sequence: increased CRIT DMG, increased Stellar Swirl DMG or restored Energy.

The sequence resets when the character leaves the field, making the weapon especially relevant to characters who can consistently remain active during combat.

Hymn of the Maelstrom is a five-star Catalyst that increases Healing Bonus. Healing also increases the equipped character’s Max HP and boosts the active character’s ATK according to that HP value.

The bonuses can become stronger when a nearby party member triggers Frozen or Stellar Swirl reactions. Importantly, these effects can also activate while the Catalyst user is off the field.

New Four-Star Weapons

  • New Bough: A four-star sword that increases ATK and Elemental Mastery after using an Elemental Skill and hitting an opponent.
  • Winter’s Heavy Heart: A Catalyst that provides Elemental Mastery and ATK based on the number of Cryo and Electro characters in the party.
  • Breezeborne Refrain: A bow that increases Energy Recharge and boosts Stellar Glimmer reaction damage for nearby party members.
  • Silver Light: A sword that increases Elemental Mastery after the equipped character uses an Elemental Skill.

Silver Light and its refinement materials can be obtained through the Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon event, while other event-exclusive weapons are tied to their respective Event Wishes.

New Archon Quests Continue the Snezhnaya Story

Version 7.1 expands the main storyline with two permanent Archon Quests.

Chapter VII: Act III – White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking

This quest becomes permanently available after the Version 7.1 update. Players need Adventure Rank 18 or above and must complete Chapter VII: Act II, Wraith’s Nocturne.

Chapter VII: Act IV – A Rekviem for the Underworld

The next chapter requires players to complete Act III and reach Adventure Rank 18 or above. Both quests support the new Focused Experience Mode feature.

These additions move the Snezhnaya storyline forward while giving players more permanent narrative content to explore.

New World Quests and Secret Tsarist Assignments

Two new World Quests have also been added: Swords and Secrets and Upstream Variations.

Swords and Secrets requires players to complete Chapter VII: Act III, while Upstream Variations requires Chapter VII: Act II and Level 2 at Meeting Point: Tidesong Cavern.

Another addition is Secret Tsarist Assignments. After completing the required Archon Quest, players can visit Confidential Secretary Chayka at Zapolyarny Palace each week to accept these assignments.

Completing enough assignments can provide Furnishings, Furnishing Blueprints and other rewards. Additional rewards, including Wind Gliders, are planned for future versions.

New Enemy: Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow

A new enemy has been added to the Fellfrost Peak area. The Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow is an ancient Snegovik protected by an ice-based defensive mechanic.

When its HP falls below a certain point, the enemy enters an ice coffin and periodically deals AoE Cryo damage. Players can damage the ice coffin using Stellar Glimmer reactions.

The ice coffin becomes particularly vulnerable to Electro and Anemo attacks after becoming fragile. If players fail to damage it, the enemy can recover HP and create an ice blade for a counterattack. Damaging the coffin instead causes the enemy to become temporarily weakened.

A new Teleport Waypoint has also been added to Fellfrost Peak to support exploration around the new encounter.

Miliastra Wonderland Gets New Content

Miliastra Wonderland receives a substantial collection of cosmetic and social improvements in Version 7.1.

The Moonlight After the Rain Event Ode introduces four new cosmetic sets, while Chronicles of the Realms and Epic of the Realms receive three additional sets. Three more sets are temporarily available through the Miliastra Shop.

The update also introduces the Afternoon Nectar set through the Raiment Collection: Warmth of a Sunny Day event.

The Public Lobby has been redesigned with the Osmanthus Retreat: Divine Bouquet theme, while players can purchase the Private Lobby theme Osmanthus Retreat: Solace Among Blossoms through the Miliastra Pass.

New Wonderland Social Features

Players can now share Wonderlands through several communication channels, including the Public Channel, Current Lobby, Current Team and Current Room.

Leaderboards have also been expanded to show personal best results when applicable. New privacy settings allow players to hide their avatar and nickname from Competitive Rank and Leaderboard displays.

The Miliastra Shop also gains a Cart feature, including a batch-add option for recommended makeup items.

Genius Invokation TCG Expansion

The Genius Invokation TCG receives several additions in Version 7.1.

New character cards include Columbina and Illuga, along with their corresponding Talent cards. New invitation duels and guest challenges have also been added.

Players can purchase several new Action Cards from Prince at The Cat’s Tail, including Return of the Three Moons, Elemental Transfiguration: Overload Blessing, Book of Blinding Light, Sevenfold Transmutation, Surge of Lightning and Recollection of Days Past.

The Forge Realm’s Temper also returns with the Clever Stratagems theme. Players can adjust parameters such as difficulty, enemy health and round limits. Higher difficulty settings provide opportunities to earn more points and unlock corresponding rewards.

Imaginarium Theater Gets Two New Seasons

The first new Imaginarium Theater season begins on October 1. Its required elements are Hydro, Cryo and Anemo.

The opening characters are Neuvillette, Barbara, Citlali, Kaeya, Wanderer and Prune. Special Guest Stars include Ineffa, Yae Miko, Thoma and Chiori.

A second season begins on November 1, requiring Hydro, Electro and Geo characters. Its opening characters include Yelan, Aino, Flins, Fischl, Zhongli and Kachina.

Qiqi, Odette, Vesna and Jahoda are listed as Special Guest Stars for the second season.

Several characters also receive new Thespian Tricks that can be exchanged through Wolfy once the relevant season begins.

Spiral Abyss Changes in Version 7.1

A new Spiral Abyss season is scheduled to begin on October 16. Floors 11 and 12 will receive new Ley Line Disorders, while the enemy lineup has also been updated.

Floor New Effect
Floor 11 Party members gain 60% Anemo DMG Bonus and 60% Cryo DMG Bonus.
Floor 12 – First Half Stellar Glimmer DMG is increased by 75%.
Floor 12 – Second Half Party members receive a 75% Cryo DMG Bonus.

The new Blessing of the Abyssal Moon, Stardread Moon, introduces shockwaves when players trigger or deal damage associated with reactions such as Superconduct, Stellar-Conduct, Cryo Swirl, Stellar Swirl, Frozen and Shatter.

Sixth-Anniversary and Other New Content

The sixth-anniversary period is another major part of Version 7.1. Anniversary-related activities provide players with additional rewards, including opportunities connected to five-star characters.

The update also adds new recipes, character specialty dishes, achievements and chat emojis. New gadgets include Conductor of the ‘Ya-ho’ and A Mini Trolley Problem.

New namecards include Vesna: Revelry, Vodyanitsa: Whirlpool and Travel Notes: Moontrace.

Gameplay Adjustments and Quality-of-Life Improvements

Version 7.1 contains a long list of smaller improvements designed to reduce frustrating interactions and improve performance.

Quest collision issues have been addressed in several Archon Quests, while enemy behavior has also been adjusted. The landing logic for the Rugged Elder Leshy’s leap attack now determines its target position when the jump begins rather than continuously following the target.

Touchscreen interactions for building Prime Ice Constructs have been adjusted to reduce accidental inputs. Controller and keyboard users can now cycle through Prime Ice Constructs more smoothly.

The update also improves certain Android and HarmonyOS resolution calculations, giving players more control over balancing image quality and performance according to their devices.

Bug Fixes in Genshin Impact 7.1

The patch addresses numerous quest, enemy, exploration and audio-related problems. Among the fixes are incorrect character or elemental icons, quest progression problems, camera issues and abnormal enemy effects.

Several issues involving World Quests have also been resolved, including problems with the dog-following objective in Daybreak After the Snow and progression issues involving Ever Beneath the Waves.

Additional fixes cover Prime Ice Construct interactions, voice-over errors, enemy animations, collision behavior and visual clipping during certain cutscenes.

What Genshin Impact 7.1 Means for Players

Version 7.1 is not simply a character banner update. It touches almost every major part of the game, from the Snezhnaya storyline and combat system to TCG, Spiral Abyss, Imaginarium Theater and Miliastra Wonderland.

The introduction of Vesna and Vodyanitsa also gives players new options for teams built around Anemo, Hydro, healing, Freeze and the newer Stellar reaction mechanics.

For players focused on exploration, the new Fellfrost Peak content and World Quests provide additional reasons to return to Snezhnaya. Meanwhile, endgame players have new Spiral Abyss conditions and upcoming Imaginarium Theater seasons to prepare for.

The extensive system changes are equally important for long-term play. New sharing tools, privacy controls, shop improvements and performance optimizations make the update broader than a conventional content drop.

Final Verdict

Genshin Impact 7.1 is a major version update built around new characters, the continuing Snezhnaya storyline and the game’s sixth-anniversary period. Vesna and Vodyanitsa headline the playable additions, while new weapons, quests and the Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow expand the core gameplay experience.

Beyond the main story, players have new Genius Invokation TCG cards, Miliastra Wonderland cosmetics and social features, upcoming Imaginarium Theater seasons and a refreshed Spiral Abyss to explore. The large collection of optimizations and bug fixes further rounds out the patch.

With content arriving across story, combat, exploration, endgame and social systems, Version 7.1 gives Travelers multiple reasons to return after the September 23 launch.
