Hardik Pandya to CSK? Chennai Super Kings CEO Breaks Silence on Trade Rumours Ahead of IPL 2027

Rumours linking Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya with a sensational move from Mumbai Indians (MI) to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have gained significant attention ahead of the IPL 2027 season. However, both franchises have denied that any formal discussions regarding a trade have taken place.

Pandya, one of the biggest names in the Indian Premier League, is reportedly among the players who could become available in the upcoming trade window, sparking interest from multiple franchises.

CSK CEO Responds to Hardik Pandya Trade Speculation

Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan clarified that the franchise has not yet made any decisions regarding player trades and is currently focused on reviewing its IPL 2026 campaign.

According to Viswanathan, CSK will only begin evaluating potential trade opportunities after the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) season concludes.

“We have not taken any decision, and it is definitely not on the table as yet. We are aware which player is up for trade and we will discuss it once we complete our review of the season, which will only be after the ongoing MLC. There is still a lot of time for that,” Viswanathan said.

The statement neither confirmed nor completely ruled out interest in acquiring Pandya, leaving the door open for future discussions.

Mumbai Indians Deny Ongoing Trade Talks

A spokesperson from Mumbai Indians has also dismissed reports suggesting that negotiations with CSK or any other franchise are currently underway.

Like CSK, Mumbai Indians are expected to complete a detailed review of their IPL 2026 campaign before making decisions on player retention, trades, and leadership changes.

MI endured a disappointing season despite entering the tournament with high expectations, leading to widespread speculation regarding potential squad restructuring.

Multiple Franchises Interested in Hardik Pandya

Reports suggest that as many as six IPL franchises are monitoring Pandya’s situation and could enter the race if the all-rounder becomes available for trade.

The Mumbai Indians captain was retained for Rs 16.35 crore and remains one of the league’s most valuable players due to his ability to contribute with both bat and ball.

If a trade materializes, it could involve a significant cash deal, player exchanges, or a combination of both.

IPL 2027 Trade Market Already Active

The only confirmed major trade so far involves wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who has reportedly returned to Delhi Capitals from Lucknow Super Giants.

As part of the agreement, Pant accepted a pay reduction while spinner Kuldeep Yadav moved in the opposite direction to Lucknow Super Giants.

The move has set the stage for what could become one of the busiest IPL trade windows in recent years.

Who Could Lead Mumbai Indians If Hardik Leaves?

Questions surrounding Mumbai Indians’ leadership have intensified amid reports suggesting Pandya may be considering a move away from the franchise.

While senior batter Suryakumar Yadav has been discussed as a possible captaincy candidate, recent reports indicate that he is not currently viewed as the frontrunner for the role.

Former MI captain Rohit Sharma is reportedly believed to have backed young star Tilak Varma as a future leader. Tilak has already gained leadership experience with India A and currently serves as India’s T20I vice-captain.

His rapid rise in international cricket has strengthened his credentials as a long-term captaincy option for the five-time IPL champions.

Will Hardik Pandya Join CSK?

At present, there is no official confirmation that Hardik Pandya will leave Mumbai Indians or join Chennai Super Kings. Both franchises have denied engaging in trade negotiations, and discussions are unlikely to begin until after their respective season reviews.

However, with multiple teams reportedly interested and the IPL trade window still months away, Pandya’s future is expected to remain one of the biggest storylines heading into IPL 2027.
