India Assured of Nine Boxing Medals at Commonwealth Games 2026 After Five More Semifinal Berths

India enjoyed another memorable day in the Boxing ring at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with five more pugilists advancing to the semifinals and guaranteeing at least bronze medals. The latest results take India’s assured boxing medal count to nine, strengthening the country’s impressive campaign at the Games.

Sakshi Chaudhary starts India’s medal rush

The day’s success began with Sakshi Chaudhary, who dominated Northern Ireland’s Caitlin Fryers in the women’s 51kg quarterfinal. Competing after moving down from the 54kg category, Sakshi produced a commanding display, using her height and reach advantage to secure a convincing 5-0 unanimous decision.

She consistently landed accurate jabs and straight punches while keeping her opponent under pressure throughout the contest.

Arundhati Choudhary battles into semifinals

Arundhati Choudhary delivered a determined performance in the women’s 70kg quarterfinal, overcoming New Zealand’s Morgan Henderson by a 3-1 split decision. The hard-fought victory ensured another medal for India.

Sachin Siwach, Ankush Yadav and Narender Berwal join the medal winners

Former World Youth Champion Sachin Siwach comfortably defeated Botswana’s Treasure Moremi in the men’s 60kg quarterfinal. The Indian boxer won 5-0, producing a composed performance to reach the semifinals.

In the men’s 80kg category, Ankush Yadav outclassed Northern Ireland’s Micock with another 5-0 unanimous victory. His aggressive movement, accurate left hooks and relentless pressure left little chance for his opponent.

Heavyweight boxer Narender Berwal had to work much harder in his quarterfinal against Samoa’s Seko. Despite being penalized for repeated infringements, Berwal landed crucial punches, including a standing count in the final round, to secure a 3-2 split-decision victory.

India’s boxing medal tally reaches nine

Before Wednesday’s action, Lovlina Borgohain, Priya Ghanghas, Preeti Pawar, and Jadumani Singh had already booked their places in the semifinals. With five more semifinal qualifications, India is now guaranteed at least nine bronze medals in boxing at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

The medal tally could increase further as Jaismine Lamboria is scheduled to face England’s Elise Glynn in the women’s 57kg quarterfinal. A victory would guarantee India its 10th boxing medal of the tournament.
