Movin Subasinghe produced one of the most explosive List A performances of his career on August 10, smashing 140 runs from just 72 deliveries at No.7 before adding four wickets with the ball. The Sri Lankan all-rounder’s remarkable innings included 14 sixes and 10 fours, helping Burgher Recreation Club post 304/9 against Nondescripts Cricket Club in the Major Clubs Limited Over tournament.

The 26-year-old’s extraordinary knock also saw him enter an elite list of batters with the highest List A scores at No.7. His 140-run effort put him level with former Sri Lanka all-rounder Thisara Perera and New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell, while taking him past former India captain MS Dhoni on the list.

Movin Subasinghe climbs into top three at No.7

Subasinghe’s 140 off 72 balls is now the joint-third-highest List A score recorded by a batter at No.7. He shares the position with Thisara Perera, who scored 140 off 74 balls against India in 2019, and Michael Bracewell, who also made 140, off 78 deliveries, against India in 2023.

His explosive innings moved him ahead of MS Dhoni, who previously held the third position after scoring an unbeaten 139 off 97 balls for Asia XI against Africa XI in 2007.

The record for the highest List A score at No.7 still belongs to New Zealand’s Luke Ronchi. The former wicketkeeper-batter smashed an unbeaten 170 off 99 balls against Sri Lanka in 2015. Australia’s Marcus Stoinis occupies the second spot after scoring an unbeaten 146 off 117 deliveries against New Zealand in 2017.

Subasinghe turns the game around with sensational hitting

Subasinghe walked into the middle in the 31st over with Burgher Recreation Club struggling at 139/5. Captain Savin Gunasekara had already departed for a single-digit score, leaving his side in need of a major partnership.

Subasinghe immediately changed the momentum of the innings. He opened his account with a six and followed it with another maximum in the same over. After Dulaj Ashen was dismissed in the next over, Subasinghe continued attacking despite wickets falling around him.

He reached his half-century in only 22 balls in the 37th over, demonstrating just how quickly he was scoring. Mohamed Shiraz then fell, but Subasinghe remained in control and continued to target the bowlers.

With Burgher Recreation Club reduced to 201/7, Subasinghe took complete charge of the innings. He smashed Praveen Maneesha for three consecutive sixes in the 41st over before continuing his assault against the bowling attack.

In the 45th over, Subasinghe struck Chamika Karunaratne for a boundary to complete his second List A century. Remarkably, he needed only 51 balls to reach the milestone.

The onslaught continued during the closing stages of the innings. Subasinghe maintained his aggressive approach and targeted the bowlers whenever they missed their lengths.

In the final over, he hit Kamil Mishara for two sixes and a four before eventually being caught by Karunaratne. His final score of 140 came from just 72 deliveries and contained 10 fours and 14 sixes.

His strike rate of more than 190 underlined the extraordinary nature of the innings. Subasinghe’s contribution helped Burgher Recreation Club reach 304/9, a total that ultimately proved beyond Nondescripts Cricket Club.

Subasinghe follows up century with four-wicket haul

Subasinghe’s contribution did not end with the bat. The Sri Lankan all-rounder also played a crucial role with the ball, taking four wickets as Burgher Recreation Club successfully defended their total.

He dismissed opener Kamil Mishara, wicketkeeper-batter Vinuka Rubasinghe, Yenula Dewthusa and captain Chamika Karunaratne. Although he conceded 50 runs from 6.2 overs, his four-wicket haul helped his side maintain control of the chase.

Yenula Dewthusa scored a half-century, while Karunaratne produced an impressive 82 from 66 balls. However, their efforts were not enough as Nondescripts Cricket Club were bowled out for 272 in 47.2 overs.

Burgher Recreation Club eventually secured a 32-run victory, with Subasinghe’s outstanding batting and bowling performance proving decisive.

Movin Subasinghe continues to build impressive List A record

The performance adds another significant chapter to Subasinghe’s developing List A career. Despite remaining uncapped at international level, the Colombo-born all-rounder has established himself as a productive performer in domestic cricket.

Subasinghe has now played 51 List A matches and has taken 69 wickets at an average of 17.21, including a five-wicket haul. His batting record includes 971 runs from 48 innings at an average of 21.10 and a strike rate of 98.17.

He has also registered two List A centuries and three half-centuries, showing that his value extends beyond his bowling. His latest 140 was comfortably his most explosive contribution with the bat and highlighted his ability to change the course of a match in a matter of overs.

Subasinghe’s LPL experience adds to his growing profile

Subasinghe has also featured in the Lanka Premier League, representing Colombo Kaps against Jaffna Kings during the 2026 edition. Although he was dismissed for a single-digit score in that appearance, his domestic performances continue to keep him in contention for greater opportunities.
