Noida Plans Rs 84.16-Crore Flyover Between Sectors 148 and 150

The Noida Authority has submitted a detailed project report (DPR) for a proposed Rs 84.16-crore flyover on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, aimed at improving connectivity between several residential sectors and major parts of the National Capital Region. The project, which has been sent to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee for scrutiny, is expected to provide relief to around 2 lakh to 2.5 lakh office-goers and residents.

The proposed flyover will connect Sectors 148 and 150 and provide a more direct route for commuters travelling between Delhi, Ghaziabad, other parts of Noida and Sector 150 or its adjoining areas. The project is expected to address traffic congestion caused by limited crossing facilities along the expressway, particularly during morning and evening peak hours.

Rs 84.16-crore flyover DPR submitted for scrutiny

According to an official, the Noida Authority has submitted the detailed project report of the proposed flyover to IIT Roorkee for examination. The project was approved earlier this year and is designed to improve access between the expressway and the surrounding residential sectors.

A senior official said the flyover would provide a direct and dedicated approach for people travelling between Delhi, Ghaziabad, other parts of Noida and Sector 150, along with neighbouring sectors.

“This will provide a direct and dedicated approach facility for people travelling between Delhi, Ghaziabad, other parts of Noida and Sector-150 or adjoining sectors of Noida,” a senior official said.

The project is expected to benefit residents and office-goers in Sectors 148, 149, 150, 151, 152 and 153. These areas are expected to gain improved access to the expressway once the flyover is completed.

Flyover aims to reduce peak-hour traffic congestion

Traffic congestion on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway has been a concern for commuters, particularly during the morning and evening rush hours. Officials said the existing crossing facility is limited to a narrow underpass beneath the expressway, creating difficulties for people who need to reach the other side.

The underpass also lacks dedicated cuts, meaning commuters often have to travel approximately one kilometre backwards or forwards to access their intended route. This additional distance contributes to delays and inconvenience for people travelling between the residential sectors and other parts of Noida.

“The underpass also does not have dedicated cuts and commuters often have to travel around a kilometer back or forth… this flyover will facilitate direct commute,” the officer added.

The proposed flyover is intended to provide a more direct crossing and reduce the need for commuters to take longer routes. By improving access between the sectors and the expressway, the project is expected to make daily travel more convenient for office-goers and local residents.

Proposed arch-type bridge to be 610 metres long

The detailed project report proposes an arch-type bridge, with the estimated project cost set at Rs 84.16 crore. According to the Noida Authority, construction is expected to take around 18 months.

The flyover will have a total length of 610 metres and a width of 9.5 metres. Its main bridge section, which will span across the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, will measure 65 metres. The approaches and ramps on either side will together cover the remaining 545 metres.

The proposed dimensions are intended to create a dedicated crossing facility for vehicles travelling between the expressway and the surrounding sectors.

Project details and expected timeline

  • Estimated cost: Rs 84.16 crore.
  • Proposed structure: Arch-type bridge.
  • Total length: 610 metres.
  • Width: 9.5 metres.
  • Main bridge length: 65 metres.
  • Combined length of approaches and ramps: 545 metres.
  • Expected construction period: Around 18 months.
  • DPR scrutiny: IIT Roorkee.

The DPR submission marks an important step in the proposed development, although the report is currently awaiting scrutiny. The expected 18-month construction period has been indicated by the Noida Authority.

Flyover development comes ahead of Sports City revival in Sector 150

The proposed flyover is also significant in the context of plans to revive stalled Sports City projects in Noida’s Sector 150. These projects include major residential developments and sports facilities that could increase the number of people travelling through the area.

Improved connectivity is expected to become increasingly important as development activity resumes. Additional residential and commercial establishments, along with sports facilities, could potentially add to traffic movement in and around Sector 150.

In October, the Noida Authority informed the Supreme Court that it had approved a revised layout plan for Plot 2 in Sector 150, which is held by developer Lotus Greens. The revised plan provides for a 70:30 land-use split.

Under this arrangement, 70 per cent of the allotted land is intended for sports facilities, while the remaining portion can be used for residential and commercial establishments.

Sports facilities planned under the revised Sector 150 layout

The proposed sports infrastructure under the revised layout includes several facilities intended to support different sporting activities. These include a six-court tennis centre, a cricket academy, swimming pools and an indoor arena for seven sports.

The revival of these developments could bring more residents, visitors and sports participants to Sector 150. As activity increases, traffic management and convenient access to the surrounding sectors are likely to remain important considerations.

Improved connectivity expected for Noida residents and commuters

The proposed Rs 84.16-crore flyover is intended to address an existing connectivity gap along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. By creating a direct crossing between Sectors 148 and 150, the project is expected to benefit people travelling from Delhi, Ghaziabad and other parts of Noida towards Sector 150 and neighbouring areas.

With an estimated beneficiary population of 2 lakh to 2.5 lakh office-goers and residents, the development is expected to support daily commuting and improve access to the surrounding residential sectors. The project also comes as plans for the revival of Sports City developments could bring additional activity to the area.

The DPR has now been submitted to IIT Roorkee for scrutiny. The Noida Authority has estimated that the proposed arch-type flyover will take around 18 months to complete, with its 610-metre structure designed to provide a dedicated route across the expressway.
