India’s dynamic left-handed opener Abhishek Sharma has etched his name in the record books by becoming the fastest batter in T20I history to smash 100 sixes. He achieved the landmark during the first T20I against England at Chester-le-Street on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
Abhishek reached the milestone in just 785 balls faced, surpassing the previous record held by West Indies batter Evin Lewis, who had achieved the feat in 789 deliveries. His ultra-aggressive batting style at the top of the order has made him one of India’s most feared white-ball hitters.

Blistering knock sets the tone in Durham
Abhishek once again delivered a fearless performance at the top of the order after India suffered early setbacks, losing Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan cheaply. With the team under pressure at 6 for 2, he launched a counterattack that shifted momentum back to India.
He started confidently with a lofted drive over cover off Luke Wood before taking on Liam Dawson with a powerful six over extra cover. His aggression continued against Saqib Mahmood, whom he punished with a pull shot for four followed by back-to-back sixes.
Abhishek reached his half-century in just 20 balls, bringing up the milestone with a single off Adil Rashid, and continued to dominate by clearing Will Jacks straight down the ground for another maximum.
His innings ended on a rapid 59 off 24 balls, including six fours and four sixes, when Sam Curran trapped him lbw with a slower delivery. Although the on-field umpire initially ruled him not out, England successfully reviewed the decision.
Despite the dismissal, Abhishek’s explosive knock once again underlined his reputation as one of India’s most dangerous T20 batters.
