An ally of U.S. President Donald Trump has sparked debate among wrestling fans after making comments that appeared to treat WWE storylines and matches as real competition. The remarks came from Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary, during a recent television interview.
The Trump administration has maintained strong ties with WWE, with Trump himself being a member of the WWE Hall of Fame. The relationship has remained visible during his second term, particularly through WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H, who serves on the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.
RFK Jr. Uses WWE Example While Discussing Failure
During an appearance on NewsNation, Kennedy discussed the return of the Presidential Fitness Test and argued that eliminating the program had been a mistake. When questioned about concerns that athletic testing could negatively affect children who struggle in sports, Kennedy pointed to WWE as an example of perseverance.
Referencing WWE performers, he suggested that many stars have experienced defeat before finding success, emphasizing the importance of getting back up after setbacks.
“Failure is a part of life. Listen, the great thing about WWE, that’s so inspiring, is that all of these guys have failed. Every one of them has lost fights. The trick is how do you persuade yourself to stand back up and fight again?” Kennedy said.
He continued by praising WWE’s message of persistence and determination.
“That’s the beauty of WWE. You lose sometimes, but you win sometimes. If you keep sticking at it, you’re ultimately going to come out on top,” he added.
The comments quickly generated discussion online, with some fans joking that Kennedy appeared to be treating professional wrestling outcomes as legitimate athletic competition rather than scripted entertainment.
Trump Recently Made Headlines Over Hulk Hogan Tribute
The latest WWE-related discussion involving the Trump administration comes just weeks after Donald Trump paid tribute to late wrestling icon Hulk Hogan.
Trump shared a photo of Hogan holding the WWE Championship on his Truth Social platform and wrote that fans missed the legendary wrestler. However, the post attracted attention after the president mistakenly referred to Hogan as “Huckster” rather than his famous nickname, “The Hulkster.”
The typo quickly went viral among wrestling fans, many of whom pointed out the error given Hogan’s long-standing friendship with Trump and his prominent support during previous election campaigns.
Despite the online reactions, the connection between WWE and the Trump administration continues to remain a notable talking point, particularly as figures from both worlds frequently appear together in public initiatives and media appearances.
