Gaikwad had previously held the record for the best batting average in List A cricket, with an impressive figure of 58.61. However, Libby’s outstanding performances have taken his average to 61.40, putting him at the top of the list.

Libby, who is 33 years old, has yet to make his international debut for England. However, his consistency in domestic cricket has now earned him a place at the top of one of List A cricket’s most impressive statistical charts.

Leading Worcestershire in the One-Day Cup, Libby produced centuries in three successive matches against Sussex, Essex and Middlesex.

The extraordinary sequence helped him strengthen his career statistics. Across 56 List A matches, Libby has scored 2,456 runs in 53 innings and has remained unbeaten 13 times.

He has now registered six List A centuries, with his highest score being 126. His latest run of centuries has proved decisive in moving him beyond Gaikwad’s previous record.
