Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Ryback became emotional while remembering his late mother, Janeen Reeves, on what would have been her 68th birthday.
Ryback announced his mother’s passing on April 18, revealing that she had died at the age of 67 following a battle with bile duct and liver cancer. He previously described her death as the hardest loss of his life.
The former WWE star reflected on how difficult it was to watch his mother lose the strength to do the things she loved. He remembered her as a caring, strong and proud woman whose presence remained throughout his home.
Ryback Shares Emotional Birthday Tribute to Mother
Nearly three months after her passing, Ryback took to social media to honor his mother on what would have been her 68th birthday. He shared a heartfelt message expressing how much he continues to miss her.
“Today would have been my mom’s 68th birthday. I love and miss you every single day, Mom, and I know you’re watching over us,” Ryback wrote.
He thanked his mother for being there throughout his life and added that he would love her forever. Ryback also revealed that the family dogs continue to miss her.
Ryback Previously Defended Roman Reigns
Ryback has remained outspoken about WWE since leaving the company in 2016 and has frequently criticized the promotion and various wrestling personalities.
However, he recently defended Roman Reigns following controversy surrounding the former WWE Champion‘s appearance at the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House.
Ryback argued that Reigns is one of WWE’s biggest stars and said attending an event should not be enough to define someone’s character. He also criticized the tendency of people to judge and tear each other down too quickly.
For Ryback, however, his latest message focused on a much more personal matter as he remembered his mother with love and affection on her birthday.
