The Undertaker has opened up about the serious concussion he suffered during his historic WrestleMania 30 match against Brock Lesnar, revealing that the injury caused him to temporarily lose his memory.
The Undertaker entered WrestleMania 30 with an extraordinary 21-0 undefeated streak at the event. However, Brock Lesnar shocked the WWE Universe by ending the legendary streak in one of the most memorable moments in professional wrestling history.
The intense encounter reportedly took a physical toll on The Undertaker. During an interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he suffered a significant concussion and could not remember the match afterward. H/T Sportskeeda for the transcription.
“When the streak got broke by Lesnar, I got a really bad concussion and didn’t remember the match. My memory didn’t even start coming back ’til, I don’t know. It was 4 or 5 in the morning,” The Undertaker said. H/T Sportskeeda for the transcription.
He explained that medical personnel repeatedly asked him basic questions to assess his condition, but he was unable to provide answers. H/T Sportskeeda for the transcription.
“It’s kind of like you see on TV, when the doctor comes in and asks you, ‘What’s your name and how old are you?’ They did that about every ten or fifteen minutes and I had no clue,” he added. H/T Sportskeeda for the transcription.
The Undertaker Only Remembered Michelle McCool and Vince McMahon
The Undertaker also recalled how strange the period of temporary amnesia felt. Despite being unable to remember his own name or location, he still recognized his wife, Michelle McCool, and Vince McMahon.
“I knew who Michelle [McCool] was, and I knew who Vince [McMahon] was. I couldn’t have told you my name, I couldn’t have told you where I was at. It was really, really bizarre,” The Undertaker revealed. H/T Sportskeeda for the transcription.
The Undertaker Offers Advice to WWE’s Younger Stars
During the same interview, The Undertaker also discussed the risks faced by younger wrestlers. The WWE legend believes some emerging performers rely too heavily on dangerous and highly athletic maneuvers.
He encouraged younger talent to be more measured in the ring and warned that wrestling already carries significant physical risks.
“I try to get them to calm down a little bit in the sense of all of the crazy—I’ll call them flippy-dos and stuff like that. Wrestling is dangerous enough,” The Undertaker said.
He explained that even small mistakes can have serious consequences and argued that increasingly complicated aerial moves can raise those risks significantly.
The Undertaker is now retired from in-ring competition and has largely stepped away from active wrestling, making a full-time return to the ring highly unlikely.
