Towhid Hridoy has been named Bangladesh’s captain for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe after regular skipper Litton Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud were granted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to participate in the Lanka Premier League.
Hridoy will lead Bangladesh for the second time in T20Is, having previously captained the side during last month’s home series against Australia when Litton Das was sidelined through injury. Litton is still recovering from a calf injury and is expected to regain full fitness before the second ODI of the Zimbabwe tour.
Saifuddin returns as Bangladesh make three changes
Bangladesh have recalled all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin for the T20I series, while Yasir Ali and Mosaddek Hossain also return to the squad. Shamim Hossain is the only player omitted from the group that faced Australia.
The series against Zimbabwe will be played at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, with matches scheduled for July 15, 17 and 19. Before the T20I leg, the two teams will contest a three-match ODI series beginning on July 6.
Bangladesh head into the white-ball tour looking to bounce back after suffering an innings-and-85-run defeat in the one-off Test against Zimbabwe in Harare.
