Vadodara and Mumbai will share hosting duties for the competition, which will feature 22 matches involving five franchises over 25 days.

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will face former champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the opening match in Vadodara. The tournament will then move to Mumbai for its second phase, with the Cricket Club of India (Brabourne Stadium) hosting the remaining league fixtures and both playoff matches.

All matches are scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM IST, giving fans a consistent prime-time schedule throughout the competition. The season will feature 20 league-stage matches followed by the Eliminator and the final, with the top three teams from the points table advancing to the playoffs.

The fifth edition of the WPL will open on Thursday, January 14, 2027, with a high-profile contest between RCB and Mumbai Indians in Vadodara. The first phase will feature 11 consecutive days of league action, with the Vadodara leg running through January 24.

After the Vadodara leg, the tournament will have a scheduled rest day on January 25. The competition will then shift to Mumbai, where Brabourne Stadium will host the remaining 11 matches from January 26.

The Mumbai leg will begin with Mumbai Indians facing RCB in a repeat of the opening fixture. Delhi Capitals will meet Gujarat Giants on January 27, followed by Mumbai Indians against UP Warriorz on January 28. The league stage will continue until February 3, when Delhi Capitals take on UP Warriorz in the final league match.

WPL 2027 playoff format and final date

The tournament will retain its existing playoff structure. The team finishing at the top of the points table after the 20 league matches will qualify directly for the final, giving it an advantage for maintaining consistency throughout the competition.

The teams finishing second and third will compete in the Eliminator on Friday, February 5, at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The winner will secure the second place in the final, while the losing team will be eliminated from the tournament.

February 6 has been reserved as a rest day before the championship match. The WPL 2027 final will take place on Sunday, February 7, at Brabourne Stadium, where the two remaining teams will compete for the title.

With the opening match featuring two former champions and the playoff race involving five competitive franchises, the schedule sets up another season of women’s franchise cricket across two major Indian cities.
