Zaria Challenges Bayley to Steel Chair Showdown in WWE NXT

WWE Women’s North American Champion Zaria has sent a direct message to Bayley ahead of the veteran superstar’s upcoming appearances at WWE NXT live events in Cleveland and Detroit. Zaria responded to the official announcement of Bayley’s return by suggesting that the two could have another confrontation involving a steel chair.

The champion’s message has immediately raised the possibility of a rematch between the two WWE stars. Zaria and Bayley previously crossed paths at an NXT live event in May 2026, where their match ended in a disqualification after Zaria used a steel chair against the former Women’s Champion.

With Bayley preparing to return to the NXT environment, Zaria appears interested in revisiting their unfinished business. Her reference to a chair also suggests that the previous encounter remains fresh in her mind, although WWE has not officially announced a match between them for the upcoming live shows.

Zaria Sends a Message to Bayley Ahead of WWE NXT Return

Bayley is scheduled to appear at WWE NXT live events in Cleveland and Detroit in the coming weeks. The appearances have generated interest among fans, particularly because the former champion has spent much of her recent WWE career competing on the main roster.

While WWE has confirmed her participation in the live shows, the exact nature of her involvement remains unclear. She could make an appearance or compete inside the ring, with the possibility of facing an NXT superstar adding another layer of excitement to the announcement.

Zaria wasted little time responding to the news. The current Women’s North American Champion replied to the official post announcing Bayley’s return and suggested that they have another meeting, with a steel chair potentially involved.

She wrote:

“@itsBayleyWWE + Me + steel chair It’s a date 🤝🏽”

The message appears to reference their previous encounter at an NXT live event in Johnstown in May 2026. That match ended in a disqualification after Zaria struck Bayley with a steel chair, leaving their rivalry without a conventional in-ring conclusion.

Zaria’s latest comment could be an attempt to reignite that rivalry, particularly with Bayley returning to NXT for multiple live appearances. However, until WWE confirms the match, a potential confrontation remains speculation rather than an official part of the event schedule.

Bayley and Zaria Previously Clashed in May 2026

The history between Bayley and Zaria gives the champion’s message additional significance. Their previous meeting took place during an NXT live event in Johnstown in May 2026, where the contest ended in an unusual fashion.

Zaria used a steel chair against Bayley, resulting in a disqualification finish. The incident prevented the match from reaching a conventional conclusion and provided a clear reason for the two competitors to meet again.

Bayley is one of WWE’s most experienced performers, having competed in major championship matches and developed a reputation as one of the company’s leading women’s division stars. Zaria, meanwhile, has been building her own position in NXT and currently holds the Women’s North American Championship.

A renewed confrontation would therefore bring together an established main-roster name and a champion looking to strengthen her reputation within NXT. The involvement of a steel chair could also provide a callback to their previous encounter.

Whether the two actually compete at the Cleveland or Detroit show remains to be seen. WWE’s house shows often provide opportunities for unusual matchups and appearances, making Bayley’s return an interesting development for NXT fans.

Bayley Ends Her Rivalry With Lyra Valkyria After No Disqualification Match

Bayley’s potential return to NXT comes shortly after she finished a physically demanding rivalry with Lyra Valkyria. The two women recently competed in a No Disqualification match, bringing their ongoing storyline to an end.

The rivalry featured multiple encounters, with Valkyria winning two matches in the trilogy. However, Bayley managed to claim victory in the final No Disqualification contest, giving her a win in the concluding match despite losing the overall series.

The stipulation allowed both competitors to use weapons and take greater risks than they would in a traditional singles match. Chairs and other objects became part of the action, making the contest particularly physical.

Bayley ultimately came out on top, but the victory did not arrive without consequences. The match featured several chair shots and moments that left the veteran superstar in difficult situations.

With Valkyria now potentially behind her, Bayley could turn her attention towards new opportunities in WWE. Her upcoming NXT appearances provide an opportunity for the company to introduce fresh rivalries or revisit previous opponents such as Zaria.

Bayley Narrowly Avoids a Chair Accident During Her Match With Lyra Valkyria

One of the most concerning moments from Bayley’s No Disqualification match against Valkyria involved a steel chair that nearly struck the veteran in the face.

During the contest, Bayley threw a chair into the ring. However, the object ricocheted off the ropes and bounced back towards her, narrowly avoiding a much more serious collision with her face.

The moment could have resulted in an unfortunate injury if the chair had returned slightly faster or if Bayley had been standing closer to its path. Despite the close call, she appeared to laugh off the incident with the referee before continuing the match.

Bayley eventually secured the victory, completing the rivalry with Valkyria. The incident also highlighted the unpredictable nature of No Disqualification matches, where weapons and physical exchanges can create dangerous situations even when performers are experienced.

Given Zaria’s latest message, the possibility of another chair-related confrontation involving Bayley has become an interesting talking point ahead of the NXT live events.

Could Bayley Challenge for Another WWE Women’s Championship?

With her rivalry against Valkyria concluded, Bayley could now look towards the championship picture. One potential target is the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, currently held by Raquel Rodriguez.

Bayley’s experience and previous success in WWE make her a natural candidate for future championship opportunities. A rivalry with Rodriguez could offer a different challenge, particularly if Bayley decides to pursue another title on the main roster.

Another possibility is the Women’s World Championship, a title Bayley has not held. A run towards that championship would give her an opportunity to add another major achievement to an already decorated WWE career.

However, her immediate schedule includes the upcoming NXT live events, where a potential meeting with Zaria could become an important storyline development. The two have unfinished business following their disqualification match, and Zaria’s public challenge has put the possibility back into the spotlight.

For Zaria, another match against Bayley would also provide an opportunity to make a statement against a highly experienced opponent. The Women’s North American Champion will be looking to recover from her non-title defeat against Izzi Dame at Halloween Havoc and regain momentum.

Zaria Looks to Bounce Back After Halloween Havoc Defeat

Zaria’s challenge comes at a time when the Women’s North American Champion has something to prove. Her non-title loss to Izzi Dame at Halloween Havoc was a setback, and a high-profile confrontation with Bayley could provide an opportunity to redirect attention towards her championship run.

Although the defeat did not result in a change of titleholder, it gave Zaria a reason to refocus ahead of her next appearances. Competing against a former champion such as Bayley would test her abilities and potentially provide another major moment in her NXT career.

At the same time, Bayley has her own goals after finishing the rivalry with Valkyria. Whether she chooses to pursue a championship opportunity or become involved in another NXT storyline, her return offers several possibilities.

What Happens Next for Bayley in WWE NXT?

Bayley’s appearances in Cleveland and Detroit have created anticipation about which NXT stars she might encounter. Zaria has already made her interest clear, using a reference to their previous steel-chair incident to suggest that another meeting would be welcome.

However, WWE has yet to confirm that the two will face each other at either event. Bayley’s participation in the live shows does not automatically guarantee a match, and the company could have other plans for the returning superstar.

The end of her rivalry with Lyra Valkyria gives WWE an opportunity to move her into a fresh storyline. A renewed confrontation with Zaria would connect directly to their May 2026 encounter, while a championship-focused programme could give Bayley another major objective.

For now, Zaria’s message has put their previous rivalry back into the conversation. Her reference to a steel chair suggests that she has not forgotten how their last match ended, and Bayley’s upcoming NXT appearances could provide the setting for another chapter in their story.
