Kolkata Naked Parade Case: Three Arrested After Assault

Three people arrested for allegedly assaulting a teenage boy, his father and the boy’s friend before forcing them to walk naked through a locality in south Kolkata were taken through the area shirtless and wearing shorts by police on Tuesday as part of a crime scene reconstruction.

The incident reportedly took place on Sunday evening within the jurisdiction of Sarsuna Police Station. According to the allegations, the victims were assaulted and publicly humiliated by members of a 13-year-old girl’s family after the teenager was allegedly caught kissing his girlfriend.

Police have arrested the girl’s father, elder brother and maternal uncle in connection with the case. Her mother has been detained as the investigation continues.

A police official told the news agency PTI that the three accused were also made to walk barefoot, with ropes tied around their waists, during the police exercise through the locality.

Teenage Boy, Friend Allegedly Beaten and Confined

According to the allegations, the teenage boy and his friend were confined to a room and beaten by the girl’s parents and maternal uncle. The boy was allegedly forced to contact his father and ask him to come to the location.

The boy’s father alleged that he was attacked after arriving at the spot. He claimed that at least six people assaulted him before the girl’s maternal uncle presented him with what he described as a gun and forced him to choose between shooting his son and walking naked alongside him.

Recounting the incident to reporters, the father said: “After I reached there, I was also assaulted by at least six people. Then the girl’s maternal uncle gave me a gun, saying that I have two options. One is to shoot my son or walk naked with him.”

He also described the public humiliation allegedly inflicted on the three victims, claiming that people recorded videos of them as they were forced to walk naked through the locality.

“People took videos of me, my son and his friend walking naked. It was such a humiliation for us,” he said.

The allegations have raised questions about the circumstances in which the victims were allegedly assaulted and publicly paraded. Police are investigating the incident, including the father’s claim that a firearm was used to threaten him.

Three Accused Arrested, Girl’s Mother Detained
