The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is stepping up its political campaign against the INDIA Bloc with nationwide street marches under the slogan ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’. BJP national president Nitin Nabin will lead two major marches in Bihar and West Bengal on Monday, November 2, as the political confrontation intensifies following the Opposition’s rally in Delhi over alleged electoral irregularities.
The BJP said the campaign aims to counter what it described as Opposition misinformation, disinformation and organised anarchy. The marches come a day after INDIA bloc leaders gathered at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan and accused the BJP of coming to power through alleged ‘vote chori’.
Nitin Nabin to Lead BJP Marches in Bihar and West Bengal
According to a BJP statement reported by the Press Trust of India (PTI), Nabin will lead two major ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao Padyatras’ in Bhagalpur and Kolkata.
The first march will take place in Bhagalpur, Bihar, beginning at approximately 11 am at Lajpat Park. It is scheduled to conclude at Seva Jyoti Chowk at 12:30 pm.
Nabin will then travel to Kolkata for the second march. The procession is scheduled to begin at College Street at 3 pm and end at Dharmatala at 5:30 pm.
The BJP said senior party leaders, state presidents, thousands of party workers and members of the public would participate in both events. The party described the campaign as an effort to reach villages and households and present its position on the Opposition’s allegations.
Why Has the BJP Launched the ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ Campaign?
The BJP’s nationwide campaign follows the INDIA bloc’s ‘Chalo Dilli’ rally at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital on Sunday. Opposition leaders organised the gathering to protest against alleged electoral irregularities and the revision of voter lists.
Several prominent INDIA bloc leaders accused the BJP of securing power at the Centre and in various states through what they called a stolen mandate. The Opposition’s allegations centred on claims of ‘vote chori’, making electoral integrity a major issue in the latest political confrontation.
In response, the BJP described the Opposition’s campaign as an attempt to spread what it called a false narrative. In its statement, the party said the marches would counter the Opposition’s “misinformation, disinformation and organised anarchy”.
The BJP also said its workers were reaching out to villages and households to explain the party’s position and challenge what it described as false and fabricated claims.
Rahul Gandhi’s Warning at the INDIA Bloc Rally
At Sunday’s rally in Delhi, Congress leader Rahul gandhi launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led government and the Election Commission over allegations of electoral irregularities.
Gandhi said Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar would be removed and jailed for “treason” in the future. He also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah would not be allowed to escape the law.
The remarks came amid the INDIA bloc’s broader allegations concerning voter-list revisions and the conduct of elections. The BJP has rejected the Opposition’s claims and is using its nationwide campaign to challenge the allegations.
Nitin Nabin Criticises Congress Over 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots Anniversary
Before the planned marches in Bihar and West Bengal, Nabin led a similar procession under the ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ campaign in Haryana’s Rohtak district on Sunday.
During the event, he criticised the Congress for holding the INDIA bloc’s ‘Chalo Dilli’ rally on the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He said the party should have apologised for the violence against the Sikh community instead of organising a political protest on that date.
“The Congress party should have sought atonement and offered an apology for the acts committed against the Sikh brethren — the massacres and the killings that took place on this very day in 1984. Instead, today, they have come out to stage a protest,” Nabin said, according to PTI.
BJP President Accuses Congress of Double Standards
Nabin also accused the Congress of applying different standards when interpreting election results. He said the party described its victories in Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka as victories for democracy but raised concerns about democracy after electoral defeats in Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal.
“What kind of double standards and hypocrisy is this? This makes one thing clear: they want democracy to function according to the Gandhi family’s dictates, but democracy will function in accordance with the country’s Constitution,” he said.
Nabin also accused Rahul Gandhi of “acting at the behest of foreign powers”. These remarks were part of the BJP leader’s criticism of the Congress and its approach to electoral outcomes.
Political Contest Intensifies Over Electoral Integrity
The rival campaigns reflect the growing political dispute between the BJP and the INDIA bloc over electoral processes, voter lists and the legitimacy of election outcomes. While Opposition leaders have raised allegations of vote manipulation, the BJP has accused them of spreading misinformation and undermining public confidence.
With Nabin scheduled to lead marches in Bhagalpur and Kolkata, the BJP is taking its response beyond political statements and into public street campaigns. The developments highlight how electoral integrity and competing claims about democracy have become central themes in the confrontation between the ruling party and the Opposition.
