Gurnoor Brar Smashes Four Sixes in Final Over as Gambhir’s Reaction Goes Viral

Gurnoor Brar produced a sensational late cameo on Day 2 of India’s three-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI in Colombo, smashing four sixes in the final over to provide a spectacular finish to the visitors’ innings.

With India approaching the end of their innings, Brar was given the freedom to attack Sri Lankan spinner Dilum Sudeera. After Devdutt Padikkal took a single from the first delivery, Brar took charge and launched two consecutive deliveries over the boundary.

The left-handed pacer then refused to take a single, keeping the strike for himself. His decision paid off as he smashed two more towering sixes to complete an extraordinary 25-run final over.

Gurnoor Brar’s explosive final over

Brar began his assault by hitting the second ball over deep mid-wicket before following it up with a huge straight six over the bowler’s head. After a dot ball, he cleared deep mid-wicket again and finished the over with another maximum over deep extra cover.

His remarkable hitting saw him finish unbeaten on 36 runs from just 18 balls. The cameo included four sixes and gave India a much-needed boost after a largely controlled batting effort.

The fearless approach from the tailender also drew a positive reaction from India head coach Gautam Gambhir, who was seen applauding the late-order assault from the Indian dugout.

Devdutt Padikkal stars with unbeaten 142

Earlier, Devdutt Padikkal delivered an impressive performance at No. 3, scoring an unbeaten 142 from 164 balls. His century strengthened his case for a place in India’s playing XI for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka.

With Sai Sudharsan unavailable due to injury, Padikkal has emerged as a strong contender for the crucial No. 3 position. His ability to handle spin and build an innings could prove valuable in Galle.

Ravindra Jadeja also contributed with a composed 63 before retiring out, while Manav Suthar impressed with a resilient 41.

India finish Day 2 on 357/8

India ended the second day at 357/8 after 90 overs, with Padikkal unbeaten on 142 and Brar providing the explosive finishing touch.

However, India’s middle-order struggles against spin remained a concern. Rishabh Pant was dismissed for just two after attempting to loft off-spinner Ramesh Mendis, while Dhruv Jurel departed for one.

Despite those setbacks, Brar’s stunning cameo ensured India crossed the 350-run mark in dramatic fashion and gave the Indian dugout plenty to celebrate at the close of play.
