The former India batter believes this combination would allow India to attack the opposition with three distinctly different spin options rather than selecting two bowlers who operate from a similar angle.

Why Saransh Jain could be the better fit for Galle

According to Kaif, India’s potential spin combination could consist of Jadeja, Kuldeep and Jain. This would provide the team with left-arm orthodox spin, left-arm wrist-spin and off-spin.

The variety could be particularly useful against Sri Lanka’s middle order, which includes several left-handed batters. An off-spinner operating around the wicket can create a different challenge for left-handers compared with left-arm spin.

Kaif also pointed out that Jain’s batting could strengthen India’s lower order. His ability to contribute runs means the 33-year-old could offer value with both bat and ball if selected for his Test debut.

Manav Suthar has already made his India Test debut

Manav Suthar is not without international experience. The left-arm spinner recently made his India Test debut against Afghanistan in June and made an immediate impact.

His batting record includes 14 half-centuries and two centuries, demonstrating that he can contribute meaningful runs lower down the order.

With the ball, Jain has taken 188 first-class wickets, including 10 five-wicket hauls. His best innings figures are 6/75, highlighting his ability to play a major role with the ball over a long first-class match.
