The 22-year-old shared photos of his pink hair on Instagram with the caption, “A man of his word.” Before the tournament, Gavi had revealed during a Spanish radio interview that he would dye his hair pink if Spain lifted the World Cup trophy.
His striking new look quickly went viral across social media, with fans celebrating the midfielder’s commitment to his promise after Spain’s memorable triumph.
Spain crowned world champions
Spain secured the 2026 FIFA World Cup title after edging Argentina 1-0 in the final. Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the match as La Roja claimed their second World Cup championship.
Although Gavi featured only sparingly during the tournament as he continued his recovery from injury, he remained part of Spain’s successful squad and celebrated the historic achievement with his teammates.
Several Spain stars honored pre-tournament pledges
Gavi was not the only Spanish player to celebrate the World Cup triumph with a personal challenge. Defender Marc Cucurella also fulfilled his promise by getting a tattoo of Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente.
With the celebrations winding down, Gavi is expected to rejoin Barcelona for pre-season preparations ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
