The Supreme Court has permitted the use of certified green firecrackers in Delhi-NCR for two days, November 7 and 8, subject to strict restrictions on when and where they can be burst. The limited permission comes with designated time windows, safety measures and restrictions around sensitive locations.
Under the directions, firecrackers can be burst for a maximum of three hours a day on the two approved dates. The restrictions are intended to regulate celebrations while limiting the impact of firecracker use on public health and safety in the region.
Green Crackers Allowed Only on November 7 and 8
The court has authorized only certified green firecrackers during the specified period. Their use will be permitted on November 7 and 8, with no general permission extending beyond these dates.
Manufacturers must meet the required certification standards to produce firecrackers covered by the court’s order. This means that products without the necessary certification will not qualify for the temporary permission.
Three-Hour Limit on Firecracker Bursting
Residents across Delhi-NCR will have to follow the designated time limits on both days. The court has capped firecracker bursting at three hours daily, restricting the period during which the approved products can be used.
The specified time window is a key condition of the temporary relaxation. Residents will need to follow the applicable schedule rather than burst firecrackers throughout the day.
300-Metre No-Cracker Zones Around Sensitive Locations
Hospitals and educational institutions will be designated as No-Cracker Zones under the restrictions. Firecracker use will not be allowed within the specified 300-metre distance of these sensitive locations.
The restriction is intended to reduce disturbances and potential safety risks near places where patients, students and other members of the public may be particularly affected by noise and pollution.
Complete Firecracker Ban to Resume After November 8
The permission is temporary and applies only to certified green firecrackers on November 7 and 8. Once the two-day window ends, a complete ban on all firecrackers will resume across Delhi-NCR.
Residents, manufacturers and sellers must therefore follow the court’s conditions throughout the permitted period. The limited relaxation does not amount to a general lifting of restrictions on firecracker use in the region.
